Trail Runs are why we're here... Right!!!
The "Official" Wheeling Season, according to the Ministry of the Environment, Conservation & Parks (MoECP) runs Yearly, from May 1st to Dec 1st. During the Off-Season, the Trails are typically used by other users: Skidoo / Snowmobile / Skiers, etc..
Occasionally, Winter-Runs may happen, on Trails that are known/permitted to be shared-use all year long
Although the worst of Covid-19 appears to be over, we will still respect peoples personal sensitivities for social distancing!
A trail run typically has the following components:
Doesn't that sound like a lot of FUN!!!
Monthly Meetings are a great way to keep in-touch with our Members, chat about 4x4ing - or - not chat about 4x4ing. CO4x4 typically meets on the 1st Wednesday of every month
During favourable weather this is typically held at a chosen restaurant / mall where we can gather together: indoors or out, and share in our love of this sport / hobby and enjoy our friendship (along with a few "tall-tales", just like fishing enthusiasts)
From time-to-time, the location may rotate to accommodate a variety of Club Members, and to check-out some different locations. Attendance is voluntary, but encouraged!
During Inclement Weather monthly meetings may be held on Zoom
CO4x4 has been hosting a Booth at the Toronto Sportsmen's Show for over a decade (other than during Covid-19), Members Rigs are on-display and available at the booth to answer questions, provide information about our beloved sport/hobby, and the club itself: the Oldest 4x4 Club in Ontario
Prior to The Sportsmen's Show, CO4x4 had a regular presence at the Toronto Auto Show
At the end of every calendar-year, CO4x4 holds the Annual Celebration! We discuss the Highs & Lows of the Wheeling Year, share some good friendship and even poke-fun at each other a little bit: all in the spirit of becoming good friends
A PowerPoint Presentation set to appropriate music with a healthy-dose of humour, is shown to reflect on the years events: good & bad
Prizes are awarded in the following categories, as-voted by the members:
From time-to-time, particular Club Members may host a Wheeling-Weekend that includes Camping. Moreover, these locations are in Ontario, however, some Northern USA locations have been chosen in the past
Participants would need to be thoroughly prepared for Wheeling and Camping: you would likely need to secure your own campsite at the chosen location, however, on some occasions, a group/club discount may have been secured by the Event Host
Trail-Scouting is a Run where (hopefully) no one has been before! This may be reserved for the well-experienced Off-Roader with appropriately modified Rigs and a good command of technical off-roading skills and rescue/recovery skills. The specific Scouting-Run Host would provide all the known details & requirements at the announcement of the Run
Sometimes: Camping & Trail-Scouting are combined in to 1 event
Possible/Future Events include:
...if you have some ideas, we'd be happy to add them to the list!
